2010 Damian Greenwood Memorial Blues Talent Quest!
A GREAT NEW LINE UP WILL PLAY AT THE FORTH VALLEY BLUES FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY 20TH MARCH 2010!
"The Forth Valley Blues Festival is calling for participants in the 2010 Talent Quest."
The Talent Quest will not only recognise the musical ability of blues artists but will also commemorate the passing of two of the industry's greatest Tasmanian contributors. The major award is the Damian Greenwood Memorial Judge's Choice Award named after the winner of the 2006 Talent Quest, Greenwood and the Kearns Express.
Tragically not long after playing at the festival Damian Greenwood died from heart failure. Just two weeks later Mal Greenop, from Burnie, who was instrumental in developing local talent, also died from heart failure. In respect to these two passionate blues musicians the talent quest will feature memorial awards in their honour. As well as the prestige of winning a memorial award, the talent quest offers the opportunity to earn a place on the playlist at the festival.
The Talent Quest has four categories:
The winner of the Damian Greenwood Memorial Judge's Choice Award will play on the main stage during the 13th annual Forth Valley Blues Festival on Saturday March 20th 2010.
The winner of the Mal Greenop Memorial People's Choice Award will play at the Forth Pub on Friday March 19, 2010.
The winner of the Committee's Choice Awrd will play on the morning of the Festival on Saturday March 20, 2010.
The winner of the Acoustic Choice Award will play the morning after the Festival on Sunday March 21, 2010. (Acoustic acts are eligible for all categories).
The Talent Quest will be held each Sunday in February at the Forth Pub starting at 3.00pm.
A PA will be provided along with a drum kit and bass cabinet and amp.
A sound tech will also be in attendance.
A 30 minute set of blues based material would be great!
All participants get a free ticket to the festival.
The decisions of the judges and committee are final.
